We are very proud to announce that Elijah will be in Zurich at the European Final of the Rototom Reggae Contest!!!!

Elijah is a Swiss based Singer from Zurich. Singing and performing were his main passions since he was a little child, and by the age of 18 he knew for sure that he wanted to become a reggae artist. He started recording his first songs, and quickly it became apparent: This youthie has a new way of doing it, singing in Swiss German, English and Italian, creating a fresh vibe, positive and energetic!

Elijah's career got a big boost after dropping his first album in 2007, which led to over 200 concerts all over Europe. The next level was reached when he won the European Reggae Contest (ERC) in 2008 against several hundred competing artists and groups. Ever since he has been living the life of a young rising artist: Working together with many musicians, travelling to Africa and Jamaica, and writing songs for his upcoming albums.

Elijah will be with us like host of the night!!

And now we want to speak about the band that comes from France.
Jah Gaia was born at the end of 2003, following a meeting of some passionate seven musicians. They combine their influences to form a group with warm  and spicy tones, releasing some originality in the songs, in English or French, with a subtle combination of two different styles: roots ragga for JB ( one singer of the band) and roots melodic for Deuf ( another one singer).
The group, at each of its live performance conveys a message of peace, tolerance and respect. To defend these universal values , Jah Gaia ships and transports the audience into his world nourished by world events and simple observations of daily life.

GLOBAL WARNING is constructed of two rising reggae bands from Spain and France and a passionated DJ from the UK who decided
to gather and combine the raw elements of ROOTS REGGAE and MODERN URBAN MUSIC.
The 7 piece international act is known for their ability to be able to move any dance floor with their many changes in musical direction with
a solid foot in the reggae vibe.

Today and during these days we want to present you the six bands that, won the regional selection, will participate in the grand final of the European Rototom Reggae Contest on May 25th at Komplex457 in  Zurich.

El European Reggae Contest, que este año llega a su undécima edición, celebrará el sábado 25 de mayo la gran final en Zürich (Suiza), con la actuación de los 6 ganadores de las distintas semifinales regionales: Global Warning (de Almería) de la Península Ibérica, Sisyphos The Alpine Reggae System de Italia,Jah Gaia de Francia, Schwellheim de Alemania, Dubheart del Norte de Europa y Roots Rocket del Este de Europa. El ganador  actuará en el Main Stage del Rototom Sunsplash este agosto, ademas de exibirse en los escenarios de otros grandes festivales reggae europeos como por ejemplo SummerJam (Alemani),Reggae SunSka (Francia), Uprising Reggae (Slovaquia),Sardinia Reggae (Italia), United Islands (Ungria), Sudoeste(Portogal) y Overjam (Eslovenia). La gran final europea será en Komplex 457 y estará organizada por Reeds festival.

Como cada año los ganadores nacionales de cada región tienen acceso a la gran Final Europea. Pero eso no es todo: en los países donde la comunidad es más activa y inquieta, muchos socios, tanto promotoras que media, daran a la banda ganadora un tour nacional de promoción, entrevistas web y distribuciónes digitales.

Hay muchos socios históricos que cada año dan su confirmación, junto con las nuevas realidades que se enfrentan a la escena europea de la música reggae.

Entre los festival confirmadores hay:

• Positive River Festival, de la provincia de Parma, Emilia Romagna, en su cuarta edición se confirma como un evento que da espacio a las nuevas generaciones de la música reggae nacional, junto con los cantantes y los grupos más populares del momento;

• Evento multifuncional y realidad cultural, el Bababom Festival, que tiene lugar en el Marche desde julio 10 hasta 14, abarcando por el segundo año consecutivo el ganador nacional.

• Toscana también envía su mensaje con el Music W Festival. Se inició a los principios de los años noventa a manos de un grupo de jóvenes adolescentes que se proponía como un festival de música para bandas emergentes, y pronto se convirtió en un escenario para artistas de toda Italia. Desde el 14 hasta el 18 de agosto en Castellina M.na, en la provincia de Pisa.

• Volviendo a Lombardia, no podía faltar el apoyo de la Asociación Bergamo Reggae: este año será anfitrión de los ganadores del Concurso en uno de sus eventos.

• Trentino también quiere tener su voz con el Reggae 4 Life, que nació con el compromiso de recaudar fondos para construir un pozo de agua potable en África, y después de que el resultado fu obtenido brillantemente, continuaron con el proyecto musical y para el segundo años hospederá la banda del concurso.

• En cuanto a la fase de otoño, el Vibra Club de Módena será el anfitrión de la fecha final de la gira promocional.

Italia sigue siendo el escenario principal del Rototom Reggae Contest, siempre con muchas parejas, establecidas o nuevas, que se unen a la comunidad año tras año.

Después de haber presentado el Calafrika Music Festival, hoy vamos a hablar de otro nuevo: el Overjam Festival, que se celebra por el segundo año consecutivo en Tolmin, Eslovenia. Aunque está más allá de la frontera italiana, el corazón que lo crea y promueve aún es italiano.

Conocido como uno de los más importantes eventos del verano en el noreste, Overjam parece una cita de alto nivel, una visita obligada para los amantes de la música reggae.
