The 2012 European Reggae Contest is getting ready. The inscriptions for the tenth edition of this contest, which is open to all the European artists, will be possible since November.

On Thursday June 30th the great adventure of Rockers Roots is going to begin. The Spanish band, that won the national reggae contest, is going to perform at sala BNS in Santander, for the launching party of Concha Reggae Vibes Cantabrian festival, one of the Contest's community partners.

The day after, in Germany, at Summerjam in Cologne, the debut for the European Winner: Dub à la Pub will start their promotional tour in their home land, at one of the most important festivals in the continent, on July 1st.

European Winner is Dub à la pub

Rototom will take advantage of the overall finals of the Reggae Contest to have a presentation party of the 2011 Sunsplash. The event will take place at Razzmatazz, in Barcelona on Thursday, June 2nd. Four rooms will be open for the occasion: in addition to the finals with the 7 European bands, David Rodigan will perform and there will be also a Ska Club, a Dub Station and a Jungle Room. The admission will be free with the printed flyer until 11pm.

In room 1, the Reggae Contest finals will be held with the participation of the 7 winners of the regional finals celebrated in Maastricht, London, Munich, Prague, Milan, Madrid and Le Mans: Rocker Roots (Spain), Laid Blak (UK), Wahwahsda (Belgium), Irie Fm (Serbia), Dub A La Pub (Germany) and Eazy Skankers (Italy). The jury will consist of seven major European festival representatives, which will then host the winning band: Rototom Sunsplash, Summerjam (Germany), Reggae Sun Ska (France), One Love Reggae Festival (UK), Sardinia Reggae Festival (Italy), Mighty Sounds Festival (Czech Republic), Reggae Geel (Belgium).

This will be an important audition for all the participating bands. Not only they will have the possibility of winning the European tour to play in all the main stages of these festivals but also they will have the chance of being elected for the programming of several halls and clubs.

Once the final is over, room 1 will become a massive dancehall. The star of the evening will be David Rodigan, one of our favourites and a great ambassador of the Jamaican music in the world.

Also, during the night there will be room for all the music genres of the Rototom:

Ska Club: where we will see the selectors and sound systems from Barcelona offering early reggae, calypso, rocksteady and ska in collaboration with Liquidator Music from Madrid.

Dub Station: the sound system area dedicated to roots and dub under the artistic management of Caravelle-Prod from Barcelona. With Leones Humildes, Badalonians Sound...

Jungle Room: with Dijeyow, Turntable Mind ....

Admission will be free with the flier until 23h. After that, it will be 5€ with flier and 10€ without it.

The Rototom Reggae Contest final for the French selection will be celebrated on Thursday 26 of May. The final will be at the Restaurant café Musique, at the Parc des activités des Hunaudières (Ruaudin - Le Mans). The winner will partecipate to the European final in Barcelona.
